The New York Daily News

From the NY Daily News: ‘Despot Measures’:

Clark is the latest girl media hopeful to come out with a roman à clef about a former boss - in this case, the dragon lady herself, Judith Regan. Of course, Clark has to qualify her diva drama by saying, “I would say obviously working for Judith had a big impact on me. Judith’s a demanding and unpredictable woman. But Vivian Grant, the boss in my novel ‘Because She Can,’ is a composite.”
A composite of bosses who throw things at underlings, pitch books on unseemly topics and dish about their sex lives (including getting pregnant at 13) to co-workers.
Clark, a former writer for Vanity Fair and New York magazine, wasn’t involved with the drama surrounding O.J. Simpson’s tell-all that got Regan in hot water, but it didn’t exactly come as a shock to her.
“I wasn’t there when it happened, but compared to some of the other stuff that came up when I was there, I wasn’t surprised. But I was horrified,” Clark said.
